We're an independent boarding school, founded by Oprah Winfrey to provide world-class education to previously disadvantaged girls in South Africa from Grade 8 to Grade 12.


Through the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy Foundation, Ms Winfrey funds the Academy and supports its graduates along their post-matric journey. In 2018 the 7th OWLAG class enters university with the assistance of the Foundation.


The Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls (The Academy) is a residential boarding school with just over 300 students enrolled in Grades 8 -12. Grade 12 students write the Independent Examination Board (IEB) National Senior Certificate (NSC) Examination.
